Less than 8 weeks to go!

It is now less than 8 weeks (well 54 days to be precise, not that we are counting of course!) until we head off on our 2010 London to Australia expedition, and time seems to be flying past even faster than ever. 

We had a pre-departure meeting on Sunday and met most of the expedition members, and looks like we have yet another great group!  Everyone is in the midst of their preparations so vaccinations, travel insurance, filling in visa applications and of course working out what on earth to pack were the major topics of conversation!  Most people are both excited and a bit nervous, it is a huge undertaking to head off for six months into countries many people have never heard of, but once we are on the road all those nerves will disappear!

On the Odyssey front we are in pre-departure mode ourselves as we get our big blue truck Calypso ready to take another group two-thirds of the way around the world.  We are also busy with all of the logistics side of things - many people are surprised at how much organisation goes into an expedition like this.  I guess if it was easy, everyone would be doing it!

Again this year we are hoping to get quite a few of our expedition members to run their own blogs.  Once we are on the road we will set up links to their blogs from ours so that you can follow their Odyssey experience and find out more about our expeditions from a different perspective.

102 Days to Go!

At Odyssey, our New Year's Resolutions definitely included "travel more", and with only 102 days to go, it isn't long until we head off from London to drive to Australia!  Time is flying, and there is so much preparation to be done, but all the hard work is going to be worth it on April 18th when we jump aboard our faithful Calypso and head for Dover.

We won't have too much to add to the blog between now and departure, but keep an eye out once we set off and follow us as we head for Australia.
